VMIA has paid out nearly $4.6 million in claims to Porter Davis customers and completed some three-quarters of claims decisions, against more than 1,900 claims lodged progressively since the company’s collapse. All of the approximately 1,500 claims decisions finalised so far have been completed within the 90 day period that applies to all domestic building insurance claims.
We continue to work with a range of builders across the State, including those preferred by our Porter Davis customers, to quote for the completion of customers’ homes. All builders are assessed and approved according to their financial and operational capacity to complete the building works required, over and above their existing projects. This is an important part of the process on behalf of Porter Davis customers to ensure they are protected from any further risk.
We recognise how difficult it is for many Porter Davis clients, particularly those whose claims take longer to assess because they are more complex and involved.
Our priority at every step is to make sure the interests of our Porter Davis customers are protected, and we assure our clients that we continue to do all we can to get them into their homes as quickly as possible.
